If PC games didn't exist...would you bother to buy a super computer?

Just imagine...no need to buy a 350 dollar video card or of course the 400 dollar over priced crap box called the FX, nor a 2 + Ghz 333 FSB AMD or a 3.06 Ghz HP P4, 1 GiG + of the of the fastist DDR ram, or even a 17 inch Digital flat screen.

Why would you need such horsepower to run windows? Brings a chill to the back of my neck....burrrr.

Probably. I use some hardware-intensive graphics programs, and I want things to be immediate with NO waiting, dammit!

🙂

EDIT: And yes, I'd still get the huge flat panel monitor, since it conserves space, isn't hard on the eyes, and exhibits no radiation...my eyes don't glow anymore, even!

LOL, i was thinking the same thing when i read the topic.... 😀

Not all that "horsepower" is just for games. Many applications these days need a more powerful cpu and other hardware to run efficiently. Many graphics programs, number crunching programs, CAD, programming, etc... need a lot of resources. Plus don't forget about SETI. 😉

My favorite n00b statement.

LOL, yeah, just like the ones wanting a P4 to make their 56K dialup faster... 😉

And don't forget the wonders of using your PC as a recording studio... them there Cakewalk effects can be burdensomely slow on occasion.

If I was to build a system today and almost every game worthwhile was only on the console platforms (not too far away from happening) I would have a similar system to what I have today but some things would be less. Cpu would be maybe a celeron 1.2ghz, only put 512mb of ram in, get the cheapest vid card with a dvi interface and could play dvds.

You need a life. Some of us don't waste money on ridiculously priced hardware to play games.

Some of us use computers for important uses which require a lot of power.

Grow up.

Well the whole point of this topic was to find out what hobbies you have to need for such power. I too need a powerful computer for web design and development. A statement like "You need a life, gow up", does not offer me much input on that matter. If you read-into my sarcastic tone to much and thought it was an attack, sorry.

Yeah, I'd still build a supa mutha puter. Duz lotz of schtuff - donna wanna wait. wantz thingz to be pretty I do. My p r e c i o u s...
