I'll try to keep this short since there are a million Paypal rants.

I used paypal's bullshit secure one time use credit cards.

seller charged me 2 times, 2 different amounts.

the "one-time" use apparently allows 4 authorizations from the same merchant. paypal says they can't do anything about the 2nd charge, all I can do is open a charge-back claim after its completed. supervisor(actually got to someone high enough that they didn't have a foreign accent) told me if I cancel the card, no more authorizations can be made

I cancel the card.

The first charge is expired, merchant didn't claim the funds I guess

Now, the first charge was charged again, after the card was closed. I'm on the phone now with the fucks. The first woman I talked to was transfering me to get a credit. I got disconnected, and now these crooks are bullshitting me along telling me they can't do it, the merchant already has the funds blah blah.

fuck you paypal, DIAF

I used paypal's one-time use credit card bullshit too once. Once.

I called it a $15 lesson in using Paypal.

I'd have more sympathy, but who are these shady people you're dealing with? They're the real issue. By the way, make sure to close any one time use online cards. I'm not sure if Paypal is the only one to do it this way, or if its the same with say a regular credit card.

for real. they keep telling me to contact the merchant for a refund. fuck that, you screwed up, you fix it.

supervisor in thailand or wherever the hell they have their weird accent women working couldn't get her manager at the time. she said he'd call me by the end of the day, but no call.

Their policies make NO sense. Why let the merchant authorize up to 4 charges? How does that even benefit the seller in any way if they are legit? All it does is fuck the customer who obviously doesn't want multiple charges if they're using a 1 time use card. why the hell would anyone want to use a one time use card for a subscription, if they want the payments to continue? more than once but a max of 4 times? wtf

And why do the charge authorizations expire if the merchant can go back and recharge even after the card is closed! How the hell do they get away with this? The amount of $$ involved here isn't huge, but the principal of it is insanity.

I wanted to use the card so any additional bullshit charges the seller might try to pin on me wouldn't matter. Guess I'm an asshole because I assumed one time use card meant 1 charge, but apparently thats not true, and the website kind of does say that, so fine, I should have expected that bullshit from paypal, but combined with this other thing is beyond comprehension.

You know what never gets old? Seeing people whine about Pay Pal yet continue to use them. Rinse and repeat, keep shoveling money into the pockets of a company you hate. Meanwhile the executives are laughing all the way to the bank.

Ive been using one time use cards from paypal since its inception a few years ago. After about 75 uses Ive NEVER had an issue with paypal. Usually its ALWAYS the merchant with the issue or causing the problem. I am surprised to learn by your post that a one time card can in fact be used more than once or scammers are finding ways to force paypal into paying them more than once by gaming the system. It would be helpful if you mentioned the vendor in question so I can add them to my list of places I wil *NEVER* do business with.

Other than that, the only hassle I had was getting a REFUND from USPS from postage I cancelled from a one time card use since they didnt take paypal directly. It took them almost 3 weeks to give me a refund because paypal wouldnt clear the funds until they got it from by bank account (which makes sense). But this caused a problem with the automated USPS refund system and I had to be processed manually on their exception reports by bureaucrats, thus they delay.

ps. Love your title btw, your name is SLAYER afterall!

on your main PP account page, on the right click paypal plugins under "your account tools" or something like that and read the info page on secure cards. I really wish I did before using. But still, there are some screwed up policies in there, and paypal resolution of anything is terrible. the customer is never right, no matter what.

and you are right about the user name, I have killed many "ebays" in the past....
