I remember as a kid playing Magic Johnson vs Larry Bird one on one (on the atari).
Wilt had russel
Magic had bird (and Isaiah)
Jordon had the whole league
Drexler...schooled and abused
Ewing---poster boy
Magic....schooled (but old)
Barkley->MJ was the best head to head IMO in the playoffs (1993 I think.....)
I sorely wish that MJ could be in his prime now competing against Kobe.....who other then TMac is the only guard/small forward to not have the fear of taking the last-shot.....ie.....a clutch player.
As much as I hate Kobe....I'd love to have been able to see Kobe and MJ trading Jumpers and dunks up and down the floor.
IMO....there never was a true competitor to MJ once he reached his prime. He could dominate anyone. But, I'll settle for the hopeful one day matchup of KObe vs TMac in the playoffs.
