If Natal is USB...PC compatibility?

I just thought of this, but if XBOX 360's Project Natal is a usb device, is it likely that it could be made compatible with PC?

I'm not saying any games would necessarily have functionality with it, but purely as an IR camera, is it likely that Natal would function under, say, a windows based PC?

I'm sure the modding community will be able to create tons of uses for it.

I hate anything motion controls. When I play games I don't want to have to move around and do other stuff. I just want to sit and, relax, and play a game.

You know, I was really open to the idea of motion control. Have a Wii I got on launch day and all.

You know what I found out pretty quick? Exactly what you said. Even with the Wii you could just do small wrist motions to play most games I still found it annoying. I couldn't lie down like I normally would and play cause of having to freaking move.

Natal is like taking a horny rabbit and shooting it up with adrenaline for motion controls. They have all these grand shitty (imo) ideas of using your limbs or whole body to do shit.

Only time I turn my console on and I am not laying down to relax and game is when company comes over.

Last I heard, Natal is software. The USB device is basically just a webcam.
Its primary competition will be games like Wii Sports. A lot of people are starting to drop gym memberships for Wii games. It remains to be seen if anyone will use Natal for shooters, since that might be construed as "unfair" to the controller-only players.

The Natal device is more than that...it has a depth sensor, mic, IR cam, and regular rgb cam...more than just software...

As far as movement goes...I agree to a point...I too just like to sit back and play a game, but I see no harm in a game having both regular controls and Natal support...could be fun!

I personally would love to see game designers utilize something like Natal or touch screens for UI design. I absolutely hate most current keyboard-bound interfaces. 1 thru 0, Ctrl 1 thru 0, Alt 1 thru 0, etc. Absolutely HORRIBLE. Why not lay out a fighter cockpit with the controls where they're supposed to be on the screen and use it as such.

Anyhow, Natal will be useless on the PC if drivers don't come out for it.

I can see people using it for really cool things, like controlling a humanoid robot with it. Hopefully it wont just be stupid skiing games and crap.

I had a Wii at launch as well. Didn't mind the motion controls. The problem was that because motion controls attract casual gaming, hardcore titles didn't turn up. Sold it because I was tired of all the mediocre garbage.

wouldnt multi touch be possible?

screw gaming.. I can see so much possibilities with this on the PC sector alone.

i want a full blown minority report type setup going on in my room.

And imagine this with eyefinity... :O
