If my system passes Memtest-86...............

I have a ECS K7S5A which I heard had some issues with certain DDR RAM, so I maxed out the settings in the bios and ran the test and I had no errors. Does that mean I will not have any memory related problems ?

Take MemTest86 with a grain of salt.

I've had machines pass, yet crash instantly with other torture tests -- like Prime95.

i have the k7s5a and i ran memtest86 for 24+hours without a problem, yet i would get errors in prime95 after 1 minute. However, I haven't experienced any crashes so it's all good.

I agree with pabster...I tested memtest for a few hours at my fast settings...haven't maxed it out and tested though I have yet to have any freezing beyond ocing attempts or flakey divx programs...

I have heard of some people failing the test as well but never having any problems to date with the board...so I guess you judge what that means...

yep...i have gotten like hundreds of thousands of errors in test 6 of memtest86..i was worried because my first clean install had corrupted registry

but then i did another format clean install of XP and now everything has been perfectly stable...i was updated the bios to the lates so that could have been it too

I've seen this argument before.....No programming is perfect because it's written by people....I happen to believe memtest86 is a
valueable DIAGONOSTIC tool..If you're getting random address memtest86 errors they ARE real...but not necessarily the memory.you may not ever notice anything with your system but a bit error in the wrong place could definitely cause data corruption ..If your data is really critical, I'd take heed.. anyone really interested in how the program works and some comparision of other diagonostics here's a couple
of linksmemory testors shootout
