On a AMD64 3500 system,

would you go with PC3200 ram with 2-2-2-5 timings
or
something like PC4400 ram with 3-4-4-8 timings..

I'm ready to buy my system now, but I'm still not sure what the advantages are of each.....

I've searched and read some peoples comments that the timings do not matter on a AMD64, is this true. if so, does that mean that I could buy ram with the highest timings and it not make a difference...

Would getting the PC4400 over the PC3200 only benefit me if I decide to overclock?

Any help would be appriciated, I'd like to submit my order to newegg as soon as I can...

Only if you OC a lot. If you don't want to OC, get the stuff with the good timings - it's only the last setting ("5") that most people find gives better results when set between 9 and 11 on the A64. Low timings are still a little bettre on the other settings. But basically any PC3200 should be fine for you - there's no need to blow the budget if OCing isn't an important goal.

The 9-11 tRAS settings are for nForce 2 motherboards.

4400 at 3-4-4-8 will smoke anything below 466 2-2-2-5.

Thanks Everyone,
I think I'll go for the PC3200 2-2-2-5 as I'm not planning on doing any overclocking..

It is for NF3 as well as Via KT800's now. not just NF2's
