I was surprised to see a lot of people in another forum said yes.... and were serious. Behind Ron Paul... i might say yes myself

I think it would be hilarious if they ran against each other. The debates would be GREAT!

Probably not. They can't do the show if they are running the country and I enjoy their shows. :) Also, just because they can point out the absurdities in our system doesn't mean they know how to fix them.

Hell no. Just because they're good about whining about the world's problems on national TV doesn't mean that they would know how to fix them.

Come to think of it... whining about problems while doing nothing to fix them doesn't make them that much different than most real politicians. :|

I've never seen steven out of character, but jon stewart is a very smart man even when he doesn't have a script.

At least they know and acknowledge the fubars, and that's the first step towards improvements.

Yes. Both seem to be smart and have good political views. I think they would do a fine job.

But would they be funny on c-span? John Stuart wasn't too funny in that one appearance. I forget what show he was on now, but it was a popular clip for a while.

absolutely. I voted nader in 2000, simply because I hated seeing two piss poor political hacks run against each other rather than real leaders. He wasn't any better, but at least it was a vote for something different.

like was said above, jon stewart is quite intelligent and wasn't trying to be funny on crossfire (I think) because tucker carlson is a dipshit and john called him out for being one.

That would guarantee a Republican win. I hope they run.

Thinking on it, you're almost certainly right.

Or it can even it out from all the votes Ron Paul is stealing from the GOP.

I WISH Ron had a chance... he's the only one I actually believe will do what he says. He, like Stewart (if he were to run), is in it for the public benefit not the political clout

I would vote for Colbert/Stewart, not Stewart/Colbert

agreed. Stewart seems like he could be an ass, but Colbert, from off-character interviews, seems like an intelligent individual.

edit:
also would like to mention, that unless I could see off-character interviews describing political opinions, I would likely not vote for them anyhow. Comedians, I don't really think belong in the White House. Now, if he actually went serious for the campaign and didn't keep to his character, there could potentially be some interest on my part.
