If I'm replacing a phone under the Sprint Total Protection Plan

My phone took a small two foot fall a couple days ago (Touch Pro) and now it's all sorts of screwed up. I've got the Sprint accidental damage insurance plan, but I've also unlocked and have custom firmware on the phone. Do I have to try to relock it and reflash to stock firmware because sending it in? Would having custom firmware somehow invalidate the Total Protection Plan?

Well what is 'all sorts of screwed up'? Can they tell it's been flashed? It may be worth trying to reflash it as some companies say flashing firmware voids the warranty. Better safe than sorry

I'm not trying to get it repaired under warranty. I'm trying to get a new phone under my accidental damage plan, which covers everything from drops to theft. Would having 3rd party firmware affect this?

D-pad and other physical buttons don't work.
Screen displays weird patterns on off/on.
Backlight never shuts off, even when turned off.

I would say it depends on what you have stored on the phone. It would probably be wise to delete your phone book. Otherwise . . . Eh!

I just got back from the Sprint Store and they said that it shouldn't be a problem. But good point on deleting everything - I'll have to remember to do a hard reset when they hand me over my new phone on Thursday.

I would just reflash it to stock. It takes a grand total of five minutes and may save you a lot of headache, there just isn't reason not to.

You must have had an awful Touch Pro. My girlfriend dropped my Touch Pro (Alltel) 4 feet onto concrete a few days ago and its fine save for the scratched up chrome. Sigh* no Touch Pro 2 for me now since I wont be able to sell this one.
