Because as we all know, Firefox was the first program to ever use a tab interface...

IE6 is great but it's no secret that it stagnated while other browsers continue to move forward. IE7 is the overhaul it needs.

And why does openoffice look & feel a lot like ms office?

Because it's crap, they chose to make the dialogs and interface look like Windows no matter what OS you're on and they did that poorly so what they really ended up with was a UI that doesn't quite look right no matter where you run it.

I'm a Firefox user and I think the initial argument is rediculous.

Firefox has a lot of good things going for it; naturally IE would like to have the same sucess. It's smart on their part to follow in the example, as Firefox was when it got the tab idea from Opera and various other browers. The idea is not unique to Firefox.

IE6 isn't so great because its old. Thats why they are making IE7 which is better than IE6. What should they do instead of tabbed browsers if you think they are going to be copying firerox? Tabbed browsers shouldn't be a trademark of just one browser but should be expected for any browser.

Jesus, you FF whores say you won't use IE because of the lack of tabbed browsing. Now that IE is adding it, you bitch because they are copying FF. The computer world as a whole is creation and then imitation, this is visible in every facet of hardware and software.

If FF is so great, why did the InternetWorks browser have tabbed browsing first?

This is fun. Want to do more?

I'm not a FF whore. Infact I don't even use the tabs(sometimes I do). I use it because everybody says its more secure and all. I just got used to FF. I like the download manager and everything.

i wasnt saying that MS is copying tabbed browsing, i was saying that MS is using FF as sort of an example for their new browser. its pretty easy to tell what that means.

The really funny part is that IE7 actually looks a lot like Opera, and they'd be a lot more interested in doing something similar to Opera than FF. FF is a browser with holes in it, you have to download all the functionality seperately, and it all breaks when a new FF comes out. It also has twice as many security fixes as Opera, and higher risk issues, and more unpatched holes. Now why would they want to similate something that's only a little less crappy than IE, when they could similate the browser that most FF plugin authors get their ideas from? The browser that's been around since 1996 and is the most secure, fastest, and most functional browser?

If I could do the transparency that Vista does, I could make Opera look identical to IE7.

Nothinman: you missed my point entirely. If stated another way, might be, "there are other companies "copying" Microsoft products too, so I feel further discussion of this topic can only go downhill." ;)

Of course I could always be proven wrong. Let's see.
