If I were more consistent, I wouldn't HAVE THIS PROBLEM!

Hey all...

My posting here comes in waves. I will be gone for a couple of days, not miss it at all, then come back, sit here for HOURS, wasting time, checking every post, then not come around for days.... And here I am...it's 3:30 in the morning, I have about 4 hours worth of design work to do, to give a presentation at 8:30, after which I have to teach for 3 hours.... I will look like the living dead (red eyes, and possibly some speech slurring) during all of this, and yet, here I am....posting, responding, refreshing, reading, posting, refreshing.... It's a CYCLE. --And I don't think I would get caught up in it if I would just spend a little time on here every day. Anyone else have a similar problem?

Yeah, but keeping a consistant diet seems to solve the problem.

Oh, about the Anandtech addiction, that's solved by getting a life and/or realizing that the priority of the forums comes after other things in life, and the forums will be there tomorrow, so don't worry about not being able to go on to post today.

See, Pretender... It's not about getting a life. I have one, and while it's going on, Anandtech is NON-EXISTENT to me. For instance, during the day today, I managed to read a book, teach a class, work on an animation, draw a little, spend 4 hours of purely devoted quality time with my soon-to-be wife, and whatever else goes into making it a normal day. Only when the whole world goes to bed and I am alone at night do I normally get on Anandtech (at least for any length of time). Unfortunately, every Wednesday night, that causes a problem, because Thursday is a big, long day for me, and it starts early. Sucks ass. --And now it's 3:45, and I STILL haven't started working. :(

I know what you mean dude. I got here at 6 and here it is 6:35 and I haven't opened anything except the web browser and have done nothing but catch up on what I missed here last night. Funny thing is as soon as someone else gets here I will start working and my presence here drops off pretty quick. Oh damn,, I forgot to eat my breakfast,, it's sitting here getting cold. D'oh ;)

The anomaly known as the "Anandtech Off Topic Forum" is one which has puzzled people for over a year. It has been known to suck time from other parts of the universe at an astonishing rate, and indiscriminantly causes negative effects upon all who get trapped within it. The length of the day appears to be much shorter to those trapped within the anomaly, and people trapped inside often have deadlines and appointments approach at a deafening rate and make a load roaring sound as they pass by.
The anomaly also has narcotic-like effects on all people trapped within it. When the anomaly ceases to function temporarily and returns people to the 'normal' universe, withdrawl symptoms occur, because the person cannot adjust their body back in sync with the ordinary universe. The anomaly also affects people in their sleep, a region of the brain previously thought to be unaffected by such temporal anomalies.
So how can you avoid this anomaly, you might ask? Well, chances are, if you're reading this message, you are already within the anomaly, and your fate is sealed. Once you are trapped in the anomaly, there is no known way to escape, other than by cursing a lot until you are suddenly forced out of the anomaly by some unknown cause. This can have adverse affects, however, since it is impossible to re-enter the anomaly by will after this procedure is done, and the aforementioned withdrawl symptoms may still exist. Other then that, the only way to protect yourself is to avoid the anomaly, which is located in sector 216.151.100.105, known to passersby only as "forums.anandtech.com".

Be warned.

I just got started less than two weeks ago, and its taking up a noticeable amount of time. I didn't realize it... before I had just visited the Hot Deals and read, but posting takes more time.
