Now that we've got this FBI warning about another possible terrorist action, I'm wondering what kind of thing they might try this time... feel free to post your own suspicions here...

personally, I'm going to avoid drinking tap water for a week or two since that seems like a really easy way for a terrorist to hurt a large number of people relatively easily. anyone know what kind of security they have at the average city's waterworks & how easy it would be to poison a water supply? am i being paranoid?

just thought I'd encourage everyone to participate in my procrastinatory musings...

I'm quite sure that water treatment facilities are quite secure. I dont really think that "large" scale terrorist attacks are going to occur. The FBI and law enforcement are on the lookout for activities that can affect a lot of people. But who could stop some guy from strapping a bomb to himself and blowing himself up at a shopping mall? If terrorist attacks occur, I think it will be those type of events (car bombs, suicide bombings, etc.), basically things that can be carried out without much planning or intelligence.

I'm going to assume that the average AT member is more intelligent than the average Al Qaeda member. Therefore by posting well thought out ideas on a high traffic forum, you are being risky. Maybe you should talk about this sort of thing over instant messages, not a massive online forum with high traffic where your logical ideas could be used by some moron with a chip on his shoulder. Just a thought.

Actually, I don't agree with that statement. Remember, these are people who dedicate their whole lives to this kind of thing and probably have a 1001 ideas already, many of which are probably beyond our worst nightmares. You shouldn't so underestimate the enemy... I sincerely doubt they're browsing these forums from out in the Afghan desert thinking "If only I could think of something to do with this foxhole full of grenades..."

I am, however, glad to see there's actually someone more paranoid than me...

i work in a water treatment facility....and the amount of bilological agent that they would need to release to cause a wide scale outbreak would be highly unlikely.

well, i think they were seriously looking into that crop duster idea. and to be honest, i'm kind of surprised we haven't had any car bomb or backpack bomb situation happen already. this tells me that whatever law inforcement is doing seems to be working so far.

I know a way to cut down some of our drug abuse in this country.. just release stories how people have died from Anthrax spores hidden in Cocaine powder... might sober up some peeps.
