Acutally, there is. Jupiter is so massive that many believe it is a dead sun. Try Mars. It's closer, and it's definately a planet.

I though that suns ended up as black dwarfs, white dwarfs, neuton stars, or black holes.

Stillborn sun would be a better term. They theory is hardly new, Google ought to turn something up.
