How do I start? Do I just walk down to a local courthouse and file some paperwork to sue them? Can I just say any dollar amount?

I am genuinely interested in this.

First, you need to fall down a flight of stairs and cut off your balls with your new iPad as it's batteries explode...

Of course, since you have a lot of darker pigment in your skin, you'll only get about $75...

If you need some help, send me a PM :)

lol. So there is no way for me to walk in and just say that I'd like to sue XXX company for X amount of money then?

No, you can fill out the paperwork and whatnot if you'd like. It would be a lot more advisable to talk to a lawyer first to make sure you have a good chance of winning, though, because you will immediately get counter sued for attorney fees (I'm under the impression this is pretty standard practice, at least; I guess it might not even happen) -- and you don't want to be paying a big company's attorney fees, that I guarantee.

There is an outstanding lawsuit against BP (IIRC) for a 'million, billion' dollars. That's $1,000,000,000,000,000. That is a quadrillion dollars.

I'll just go and get my wallet.

How the hell did the plaintiff come up with that figure?

Considering your own life is probably worth less than a million, you'll have a hard time convincing anyone, let alone a Judge, you deserve a penny worth.

The higher your claim the higher the chance of your case being thrown out as frivolous.

You draft a complaint and put the trillion dollars of damages in it. file with court. find the corporate agent of process (most states list in at the secretary of state website); serve said agent with complaint.
