If i want to make a website using my own hard drive space, and my own internet connection.....what do i need?

You need to learn about DNS (domain name service) if you want a URL like http://www.myharddrive.com/ instead of http://192.168.0.200 or something.

You need to setup your computer as a web server...

If you are using Windows, you will need to run something like IIS, while you would use Apache on linux...

IMO linux & apache is much better...

1. Static IP address would be nice
2. Registered domain name unless you want people to get irritated typing IP addresses
3. DNS service
4. ISP that won't boot you for running a server
