If I use thermal paste do I need to take the pad off the heatsink

Title says it all. I have a 1.2Ghz cpu and a Cooler Master EP5-6i11 Heat Sink. I am not sure if the thermal pad is Chometrics or not. Can I get by with just the thermal pad. If not, should I take the pad off before I put the thermal paste on the processor.

The answer is yes, take the thermal pad off.
