If I set my wireless router on different channel, do I change settings on desktop/laptop?

Supposed I change the wireless router channel to like 8 or something like that from the default one, do I change any of the settings on my laptop or desktop that connect wirlessly or is the signal on the new channel picked up automatically?

I changed my Linksys from 6 to 2 and I didn't have to make any adjustments on my laptop (using Windows WZC).

I use channel 11 instead of default channel 6. I remembered Jack "MS MVP" posted about channels on the website.
