the speakers on NEC model are easily removed with just 2 screws and honestly looks much better w/o them. you should be able to find a pic of monitor w/o speakers cause most take them off.

well, for $200-something more, is the nec worth it? it doesn't seem to have as much going on ergonomically, but the panel must be god damn amazing for that big of a price diff ;o

at that price dual 19's really become an option...

thoughts/suggestions are welcome.

I have two Samsung SyncMaster 205BWs (20.1" Widescreen LCD). They cost $289 (a piece) off NewEgg and it's a pretty good monitor overall. Not sure if that's available for you since you didn't mention it.

I've owned Acer monitors in the past. They're not bad, but my new Samsung definitely has a more vivid picture.

i suppose it depends what $200 is worth to you. i think its probably worth it, but i bought mine when i did well on some stock market crap.

i usually am pretty cheap with compouter stuff. i actually use the speakers (i only have senheisser headphone and those speakers, so its nice to plug the headphones into the monitor, plus the speakers are ok for when you dont need to use headphones), so that was an added bonus for me, though the tv tuner is probably useless. if it were an HD atsc tuner... then it'd been really worth it.
