They might look just for kicks but I don't think they'll care.

Have u tried using the IBM DFT tools and formating the HD?

If the hard drive is still operational I'd copy everything over to a new hard drive. Or just burn the essentials (pr0n, sensitive documents, financial records, more pr0n) onto CD-Rs and totally re-format the HD.

I don't want some stranger to have access to my stuff.

A student at my school brought in his computer to technology hub on campus to get it looked at, something was wrong with his computer and he didnt know how to fix it. Apparently he had some child porn on his hard drive, because they called the cops and arrested him. It was all over the schools newspapers when it happened.

Id be careful what cha got on there when ya send it, im not sure what they have the authority to do.

If he had kiddie pr0n to begin with he deserves to be arrested.

Like I said, just to be safe I'd copy everything onto another hard drive or burn the essentials onto CD-Rs then re-format the drive.

You can't even access anything on the disc now. Why worry over putting a magnet on it?? Either how, it's going back to IBM. Just put it on top of it since you can't retrieve anything. :)

Actually no, its very easy. In fact I did it las night. I deleted my MP3 partition by mistake (don't ask, it was the beer I swear), and Partition Magic 7 brought it back.

You can get them from IBM's website.
