If i return a gift to Sears.... will the purchaser know?

Quick question, tried calling Sears but the rep i spoke to in CS didn't understand my question...

Family member bought me a kitchen appliance on his sears charge.

If i return it for a Giftcard, does the return transaction show on his monthly sears bill?

I don't think it would unless you somehow got $$ back. If they are just giving you a gift card, the money is still being spent.
