I don't see any reason why it wouldn't.

That's sorta how fruit works.

1) tree makes fruit
2) animal eats fruite (human)
3) animal poops fruit seeds
4) new tree germinates

well germinate and grow are two different things.

You can grow just about anything indoors.

The tree might grow, but due to your climate you won't have a long enough summer for it to bear fruit.

Probably pretty accurate here.

I lopped the top off a pineapple, ripped off the 5 lowest rows of leaves, stuck it in water for 3 days, then in moist soil and it is growing nicely now (3 months I think) on my window sill. You can grow pretty much anything inside.

Yeah, but to get the best "fruit" and keep males and females separate is difficult and requires a ton of lighting.

Green house and artificial lighting?

Than people will think I have a grow op

It's a great conversation starter. You can drop hints about offering them some of your harvest...and imagine their surprise when you hand them a sack of oranges.

There are a few citrus plants that can survive up to zone 8, therefore you are out of luck because I think Toronto is zone 5.

I live in Victoria zone 7/8 (about the same amount of day light as Toronto) and I have seen citrus plants bear fruit (out door), but they are not very hardry. I have also seen some dwarf varieties in containers that bear fruit for years.

Check with your local nursery for potted varieties if you want one that bear fruits.

You can live here, but you have to leave your guns at home.

There are many Ex/American live here on the West coast of Canada, and there are islands that populated by 80~90% American.
