The tree might grow, but due to your climate you won't have a long enough summer for it to bear fruit.

Probably pretty accurate here.
I lopped the top off a pineapple, ripped off the 5 lowest rows of leaves, stuck it in water for 3 days, then in moist soil and it is growing nicely now (3 months I think) on my window sill. You can grow pretty much anything inside.
