I think my old mushkin 2700 512mb stick is dead. I've replaced my mobo and processor and still nothing on the screen. When I remove the ram stick from the p4g800-v I get a post code of one long and two short beeps.

What do I need to look for in new ram to pair with a p4 3.0 prescot and the aformentioned p4g800-v. I'm interested in having the ability to put in more in the future should I take the plunge on a new vid card for doom III.

what ram what ram

Get some quality ram with at least 400mhz rated speed (DDR400). Higher speeds will give you more headroom for overclocking if you choose to do so. Lower latency RAM is best, but dont break the bank getting the stuff.

I'm thinking of this at $79. When and if I get a new vid card I can throw in another stick for gaming. However right now as I'm using onboard video just for word and ie I figure I dont need matching pair of memory.

since the mobo cant over clock I think the higher performance ram is useless for my needs. I just dont want it to break again.

Seems like a fine choice, Corsair is in a similar price range. If your willing to spend an extra $25 you can get crucial's lifetime warranty if you are that concerned. Check hot deal, IIRC there's a $10 off deal on crucial's PC3200 sticks this week. I'm not really a fan of theim memory though as it cost more at the moment and is 3-3-3, IIRC.
