If I have not done OC before what should I do

Hi ALL
I have not down any OC before. I plan to build a PC with X2 3800+, seems lots of people OC it. I am wondering how and what I can do? I am thinking to ask the store do it, but worry that they crash the machine if they do sth wrong in OC.
