What computer setup (I'm talking multiple computers here, not just one) would be ideal to go with for doing UD/cracking stuff?

I'm currently looking at:

Duron 600's (problem is, we'd have to get a new motherboard as well)
PIII 600's (we have Asus P3V4x motherboards)

Any other recommendations?

thanks,
Rob

Durons kick tail on any of the Intels.

I've got two Duron 600's here. One does 2.9 Mkeys/sec @ 880 Mhz
The other does 3.5 Mkeys/sec @ 970 Mhz.

They need MSI K7TPro2 to do it with ease (menu driven) -
But they're worth it.

Durons are CHEAP too.... just my 2 cents.

If you're going to make use of those P3V4X's you might as well consider some Celeron2's as well. They overclock easily, and you might be able to pick up some guaranteed overclockers cheap from compuwiz1 in the For Sale/Trade forum.

I think we're going the Duron route.

Here's to hoping that Steve will have some available when we have the cash. :)
