Citation is for "disregard of stop sign - above(road name) did not stop completely for stop sign at (road name)"

Young hot shot punk pig, just being a a$$ it was 7:05 am and a load of crap.

Court date is coming up, if i protest the tick in court and lose do i just pay the $121 fine or do i gotta pay penalties for taking up their time? State of Kentucky........

Thanks

Depends on your state. Here in Colorado they usually give you a discount and reduced points for just admitting guilt and paying the ticket early, but if you fight the ticket in court, they will hit you up for the max points and fine available plus court costs.......

NO THAT IS NOT ALWAYS TRUE.

MOST crimes have ranges, like $10-$200 for a fine and 30-90days jail, etc....

BUT if the cop or judge gives you the max then tell the judge you want a trial by jury. That way you get your money's worth. I did this ONCE and the Ass. DA lowered it to a non-moving Violation if I plead guilty. Worked for both of us. But that is a VERY long shot, don't do it because I did.

I don't know your state laws, but if you fight a ticket in court, the worse that can usually happen is you pay the original penalty.

I haven't heard of court fees for traffic court.

I did fight a speeding ticket in court once...I explained that the speed limit sign was not clearly visible and the judge waved my fine.

Is it true that if the officer who wrote my citation does not show up then the charges are usually dropped when I make my case?

Where would I look? I tried hitting up google but my search word combos are not getting good results.

thanks for yalls help.

It probably explains some of this on your ticket.......

Yes, if the officer does not show up, the charges will be dropped. That is during your second court trip though. You have to go the first time just to enter a plea, and then they will schedule a court date. Truthfully, the officer usually will show up though. They get scheduled to go to court. It is their job.......:p

No it just says find your violation on this chart and mail that amout to:

or if you wish to pleasd not quilty appear in court on the date shown on the front and lists an address. The only additional charge listed anywhere is: if court is checked on the front of the ticket and you DONT show you are charged $25

Oh yea, I'm sure the judge will be happy to reduce your fine based on this tearful story. I think in Kentucky you only have to stop at stop signs on Thursady.

Was it Thursady, btw ?

My friend (Spanish, speaks English - but with noticeable accent) protested his ticket. The judge was basically like, "Why are you here?"

He says, "I don't know. People just told me to protest the ticket. I don't know what I'm doing."

The judge felt bad and took the points off but still made him pay the ticket. I think that worked out pretty damned good.

I had a friend who went to contest a ticket. He saw two other cases done before his. The judge made the one woman cry and did increase the ticket amount on the next guy, so in Canada at least, it can happen.

It seems as if every state is different.. Maybe every city or every county is even different, who knows.. But when I used to live in Massachusetts, I fought a speeding ticket, and the cop didn't show up, but the judge didn't dismiss the fine, he just reduced it, and the only reason he reduced it was because it looked like the cop wrote "$100" for the fine instead of "$180" .. So fortunatley he had a messy 8 in there.. :p

But it's not always true that your case gets dismissed, as I surely found out.. And i've NEVER heard of someone having to pay court fees for contesting a ticket. It's your right as a citizen to contest a ticket for free. I would think it would be considered "illegal" to make you pay court fees.. I dunno though, i could be wrong..
