if i go dual core will i need to reinstall XP?

or will it be fine?

just got a bit of tax rebate from the inland revenue, it wasnt much, certainly not as much as id expected, around £200.

so im jus toying with the idea of going dual core, but if its gonna be effort (ie reinstalling windows, ill leave it for a later time)

it may be a good idea to reinstall if you go to a motherboard that uses a different chipset.

when i went from an AMD 32it to 64bit, i didn't have to reinstall even though i switched motherboards. i guess the nforce2 chipset was similar to the nforce3 chipset i switched to.

As long as all you're changing is the CPU, it should be fine.

It's better to do a fresh install

No, it's unnessary and a waste of time.

 Yep! Fresh installs are greatly overdone - mostly by those who don't know how to clean a system by scrubbing the Registry.
