if you have an ATX case then you can install in it any atx or micro atx motherboard

if you have a micro ATX case then you can only install a micro atx motherboard

if you have an AT case then if you buy a new motherboard you will need to buy a new case (cause no one makes AT motherboards anymore)

Also if you buy a new motherboard and you have an ATX case you may need to buy a new power supply that has proper motherboard connectors. Most power supplies have them but some P4 boards require extra 12V connectors or AUX connectors. That's what a "P4 ready" power supply means. Though only some P4 boards require them...go figure.

If you get a new mb, you may not "have to get a new case" ................. but it's a damn good excuse to get one!!!
