If I find hair in my food at a resturant

So I was eating at a restaurant with my friend and one of them found a lengthy hair in his dish and we called the waitress over.

What should she do? What can we demand?

Correct your meal, maybe?

What do you want, a multimillion dollar lawsuit?

Pick the hair out and deal with it? It happens, big fucking deal. Its just hair. At best, just ask for a new dish. You still have to pay for it.

You should get another (hairless) order free although they might put something else more invisible in it. :Q

If they didn't offer I would ask to have my meal removed from the bill.

A new dish to be sent out pronto and possibly your entire meal would be appropriate. Absolutely not the whole table unless you're one of "those people".

that's gross. i found a dog hair in a pizza once at Pizza Hut. it likely fell off a worker's clothing. just thinking about the fact that the hair could've been near the dog's ass made me sick. i told the waitress about the hair (showed it to her clearly embedded in the slice) and she gave us our meal free, deservedly so.

We had the dish for free.

How are they gonna correct it though, if it's just to pick the hair out, we can do it ourselves...

It must be hard for them sometimes though, because I'd bet there are losers who put their own hair on stuff to get it for free.

I understand the concept of having a hair from someones ass is disgusting, but at the same time, we touch/ingest so much shit thats disgusting every day. Take it out, don't think about it. Its just perception thats gross, in reality we are exposed to that on a constant basis.

Am I the only one that would not be bothered by it at all? Most likely I'll just pick it out.

Perhaps if I was paying like $50+ at a fine restaurant than I'd complain but otherwise I'd just deal.

Are you posting from the restaurant right now, or is this hypothetical?

nah it was last week and it's settled (dish crossed off from check), just came across my mind and wanted to know what the common practice is. I heard enough stories about returning food to the kitchen that I will rather not take that route...

They should replace your meal, and your meal should be free. No other meals were screwed up, and you had to wait while they remade it causing you to eat at a different pace/not finish at all since you are with guests. They took up -your- time which is valuable. They shouldnt pay for the whole table, for just hair. It's not extremely bizarre/gross. It's just not sanitary (You have no idea who/what kind of person that hair belonged to). Now if it was a cockroach or something that was in there, then compensating more of the meal would make more sense since more people would be grossed/offended.

Basically, who's meal did that piece of hair screw up. Just yours? then you get a new one, for free. Did it offend everyone at the table who are now at unease and not enjoying their food? then comp the whole table. Still up to the manager, but that's how I see it.

Unless you want to be like Cuda and try to change the normal perception of the world. Then by all means pull it out, show it everyone, eat it, and say "see, nothing wrong with a bit of hair"

Either replace the food with the "hairless variety" or take the meal off the bill.

We were at El Pollo Loco several months ago and my wife bit into her burrito and found a cockroach looking at her from inside...she took it up to the counter, and they asked her if she wanted a new one...
They ended up refunding the entire meal because neither of us was in the mood for cucaracha burritos...

We haven't been back since.

You're not the only one. I just pick it out and continue eating.

I really don't understand why people think it's so disgusting. What's so bad about hair?

what if it was short n curly? what if there were a couple of them? I've probably fished out an eyelash from a dish or two and continued eating, but I'd probably draw the line somewhere.
