Will I die? Inspired by the red meat thread.

I like fish and it makes me feel a nice, serene feeling of fullness. If I could afford it I'd probably eat some type of seafood every day.

:p

The mercury levels in most fish you eat are ridiculously low. I was worried to, then I found this website: http://www.howmuchfish.com/

Huh, apparently I'd have to eat 3.6 pounds of tuna on my tuna sandwiches to reach a dangerous level.

In each serving I'm getting these benefits though:

Proven health benefits of a 6 oz. serving of canned albacore tuna:

Long Chain Omega-3: 1.46g (293.4% of RDI)
Protein: 40.2g (80.4%)
Vitamin B12: 1.8mcg (33%)
Potassium: 402mg (11.4%)
Selenium: 111.6mcg (202.8%)
Iron: 1.62mg (9%)

Yay!

If you don't eat fish or red meat you live forever. All are cognizant of the aforementioned.

I'd take that site with a grain of salt. It's an industry activist group, and while their facts may be true(I can't be arsed to check), they have an agenda.

I was just coming in here to post that. That site is run by Center for Consumer Freedom, which is funded by the restaurant and food industries.

used to eat fish 2-3 times a week when we lived in Florida - caught it ourselves and would usually eat it same night it was caught. I think I went a couple years living in the DC area without ever buying any fish because it seemed so strange to purchase fish at the store. Probably eat salmon or rainbow trout from Costco now once a week or so, but there's just no comparison to catching it yourself. :(
