if i don't share files, is wireless safe?

my aunt wants to get a wireless router for internet only. she won't be sharing files with my cousin. so will her computer be safe with security enabled and not sharing files? or by using a wireless router, is the computer vulnerable if the security is hacked?

it should be safe if you enable WPA and/or WEP encryption. Turning off SSID broadcast should make it slightly safer, since you won't be broadcasting your network name for everyone to see. and dont forget to change the SSID names from their defaults

Sharing files is Not related directly to Wireless Security.

If your File Sharing is off it makes harder to a Hacker to get to your file if he brakes the Wireless Security.

However people who know how to brake Wireless security in all likely would know how to get to your files.
