If I charged gas $5 at a time.

Over and over...would it kill a gas station with fees? Stations here in NY are going batshit insane with gas ($4.49 for premium) and I am looking for a way to fuck them over.

Will this work to screw them with credit card fees?

They will survive.

BTW alot of the price is NY tax. The stations don't really have a say in it.

And wait until Memorial Day. Prices are expected to eclipse the $5 mark. Thanks Barack!

I'm curious what exactly you think Barack did to raise your gas prices.

That's stupid. It costs you time and effort while it costs them money. I see no upside to this. Why not expend that effort on something that actually helps someone?

Why would you want to stick it to the poor station operators? They are at the mercy of the market. They can't control the prices. You, on the other hand, would be deliberately increasing their operational cost (not sure how significant). YOU ARE WHAT YOU BELIEVE THEM TO BE, asshole. :colbert:

Don't retailers pay a ton of fees anytime someone uses a credit card? I'm hoping to get them to pay a shit ton of fees on my next fillup. I don't care if it wastes time, I want them to waste money.

in detroit, most gas stations charge an extra 10-15 cents per gallon if you use a credit card. yup, two prices: regular cash and regular credit. surprised all states are doing this to prevent folks from fvckng them over

Because fuck the gas stations. I'd rather spend more time at the pump to screw them over.

I think 3% is the standard fee credit companies charge their partners. Seriously though, the stations aren't making much money. Haven't you noticed small stations switch owners frequently, and many times shut down? It isn't because they're making a killing and retiring early. There isn't much money there. The money is in the big convenience store attached to the pumps, and they can sell you overpriced cigarettes and sandwiches. Fuel is the bait for the trap, not the trap itself.

At least in western NY, the prices aren't set by the gas station owners. They sell the gasoline on commission, and make very little profit off the gas.
