does that mean i can have 4 hard drives on the 2 raid slots? or only 2?

and if i use raid, do i put the hard drive on the master or slave for the raid slots.

Nope, you can have four. For RAID operation, it's best to have only one drive on each port with both drives set as "Masters" however...
