Can I game comfortably with the system below at 1600x1200? Thinking of splurging on this monitor because i) I don't like the smaller surface area of widescreen (don't watch movies on comp), and ii) don't want to get a 19" that's just a 17" with bigger pixels.

Antec Sonata II
Antec 450Watt SmartPower 2.0
eVGA 133-K8-NF41
AMD 3700+ San Diego
Mushkin 2GB DDR 400
eVGA Geforce 7800GT
Seagate SATA 160GB 7200rpm
NEC ND-3550A
Creative X-Fi

If not, what's the bottleneck here?

i have a 2000fp (older model of the 2001fp), and i am very happy with it. gaming is great. movies are great... as long as you have the computer power to back it up :p

whoops, sorry, maybe i should have read your intire post before responding.

i have the same mobo and video card as you, and i play at 1024x768 with everything maxed. i usually go for maxing settings over raw resolution. but if you drop some settings down, you should be good to go. but sli wouldnt hurt for maxing everything out, imo.

dell scaling tends to be pretty good.

plus, you don't have to fill up the whole screen while gaming.
