If I burn wav files to a DVD as a regular data disc, can the PS3 play them?

Well, for what it's worth I just put a DVD+RW full of MP3s I had lying around into my PlayStation 3 and it works.

Don't worry, I burned it long ago when 4G USB drives were much more expensive. Hmm... although a USB drive would be quieter. Too bad I can't tell the PS3 that it doesn't need to spin the disc at full speed just to play MP3s.
