What my dad did (he owed about a 1000) He paid half....90 days later, they sent him a bill for the other half. So he paid half on that....then 90 days later they sent another bill for the final 250 and he paid that off. I don't think they can do anything to you if you're making an attempt to pay. He was penalized a late payment fee though. :(

If you knew you were going to owe taxes the next tax year, you should have started estimated payments long ago based on your previous tax return. Payments, IIRC is 4 times, 25% each time. But if you didn't know you would owe taxes, no harm, no penatlities.

cpa will correct me if im wrong but u could have been paying taxes every quater. Also how much is alot.$10000,$20000,30000???

I will be oweing about $1500-$2000 estimated. I didn't owe last year, but this year working two jobs made too much

You should be able to negotiate some kind of payment plan with them, although I'm not sure how they handle lower amounts. My girlfriend owed a bit over $10k from a couple years ago. We have a payment plan going now and we were able to choose how much our monthly payments are and what day of the month they occur on.

that is not alot at all!!!! u can still make a payment before the 15 of january thru the internet. Don't remmber the website or from that you need to complete but hopefully someone can post that for u.Good luck.
