If Humans could reproduce asexually...

If a person could reproduce themselves asexually by cutting themselves down the middle ( your left side would regrow your right side, and visa versa) Would you die the instant you were split in half? And would mental awareness follow one rather than the other or be completely gone?

I guess both halves would just be complete incomprehensible morons. The two brain hemispheres would be disconnected - might be like separating drives in a RAID 0 setup. Both are perfectly good at storing data, and both contain lots of data, but it's totally useless. But then, a majority of the American public seems to function just fine like that....
