If @home goes under, do I get to keep my modem? or do they take it?

I think the modems are owned by the local cable franchise so likely you just keep it. I am told that Comcast and Cox both have fallback plans so I am not really too concerned.

I just bought mine. Certainly more cost effective if you were to have rented it for a year, and I figured I would be using Cox@Home for at least a year. Until I decided to go back to Cornell....mmmmm.....T3. :)

Comcast said keep the modem and you will automatically be credited if the service drops.

Cox has no backup plan readily available....they are still in the process of building their network....they said maybe March of next year.

ROFL...if you were so concerned, you would be checking your CommieCast mail :)
They say they've been building their own network and should be able to fail-over to it if @home drops.
We shall see....frankly, they told so many people that the service will be available "in a few weeks" that didn't get service for a year or more, I'm more than a little sceptical.

I've never once used my comcast mail, I don't think I even have a password for it or anything, I thought they might post it and I called the hotline today and they didn't say a thing, maybe I figured it would be on there if they were so busy with a plan. And the sudden unvieling that they have a secret network built too seems a bit shady.

Hahaha....I don't ever remember setting Outlook Express up to get my Commie e-mail, but I started it last night to check messages on another address and was like "Why do I have an unread message in my pop3 inbox?"
Lo and Behold.
It also says that you will be automatically credited for service and rentals if there is an outage.
