they are essentially the same in specs.

althou, the fact that the apple monitor does not display the POST routine scares me away from it. It meanst every single friking time you have to go into the bios, you have to plug in another monitor. for 3G canadian (where I live), a monitor should be able to visualize a lame ega signal... (is it that? or are bios screens vga nowadays?)

I have the 3007WFP, and I am extremely satisfied with it. I guess the satisfaction kicks in when I think I only paid 1499 canadian for it... oh canada, we stand on guard for theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

False - the Dell uses a newer panel that has a lower response time.

False - the Apple panel was recently upgraded and uses exactly the same components as the Dell, just Quality Checked a bit better (think less backlight bleeding). Just fyi. :p

@OP: If I had an enormous amount of money to blow, I'd go for the Apple panel, however I can get the Dell LCD for around $600 less, in the cheapest scenario for both screens. The Apple is aesthetically more pleasing to me, but it's not worth $600 to look at a nice Aluminum frame.

The dell can be had for $1599 or $1549 plus tax through next friday. The information on how to get this deal is posted on the hot deals forum. Just search "3007".

I'd get the Dell, everyone knows that black computers are faster. Black screens should be too.

My bad. ;)

Still, unless the Apple had more inputs and both use the same panel and the Dell is cheaper, then why get the apple?

Dell because I don't want to spend a single penny more just for the looks, AND Dell 30'' looks great too..

As a user and owner of both I'd say the Dell is better. Of course my hardware is hand picked and always is perfect by the time I get to see it so that may not be an accurate guide to what you may wind up with.

Simplicity: You cannot go wrong with either. The Dell 30" screen is essentially the same as the Apple in regards to adjustments and inputs. I don't like how the video IN is hardwired on the Apple monitors though. The Dell just has on off and brightness +/-. No contrast or color adjustments like the 24" models. Normally contrast isn't available in DVI mode but temperature usually is. Don't know why they excluded the logic.

Games and movies? One word. Wow! People think you have a plasma on your desktop. I love it because 2560x1600 lets me have all sorts of stuff open (including this post hehe). DVD's look very nice on this monitor. Much less dancing pixel video noise than the 2405 and MILES better than the Sammy 241T. :) Ditto for games. Serious Sam just looks absolutely fabulous. COD2 does too but the native res takes a toll even on an o/c X1900XTX. It's playable but I chose 1280x800 for pure speed. Funny thing about (1280x800) on both the Apple 30 and Dell displays is it looks almost like a native resolution! The pixel groups look crisp unlike other (non native) resolutions that appear smeared or fuzzy.

Now 24" 2405 vs. Apple 23 the Dell wins hands down due to flexibility with inputs. All of my 23" apple screens were essentially defective as gray colors had a pink hue. They still display text well and the folks that use them are happy about that. :)

Definitely the Dell. I use the USB ports on my 2001FP all the time, and wouldn't mind having memory card inputs on it, too.

If they were equally priced.. I'd have to think about which one to pick, but for current prices, Dell.

Ah well, in that case the Dell is still cheaper.

FYI the Apple has USB and 1394 ports too. The Dell has a CF/SD/MS reader built in.

I was gonna say neither because there would be no way I could game at native resolution, but if 1280x800 looks good, I would definitely pick one up... Actually I might this summer :)
