IF GMC's are Professionally Engineered, how come no one buys them....?

Unfortunately I fell asleep while channel surfing, and ended up waking up to a GMC presentation on the sci-fi channel. (I never watch it)So i decide to watch it.

Seems as if GMC's have a lot going for them, even if it WAS biased.

-Locking rear-differential
This is pretty cool(even better than limited-slip)

-Quadrasteer
This is really cool as it also moves the back wheels so the turning radius is really small.

So why don't people buy these things? I thought American trucks were the best, and it seems that even their crappiest truck is competetive with For and chevy's offeringss...If anything GMC should be outselling Chevy trucks...

well, what gives?

I've heard on these forums that Fords have a tendancy to die after 100,000 miles...is that true?

So how would you rate GMC is reliability and performance?

Well GMC and Chevy are owned by the same company so I would guess that they share platforms and/or technology.

4 wheel steering is not new.
I believe some other cars have had over a decade ago, maybe late 80's early 90's, or possibly even earlier.

I mentioned that...so what's the deal with GMC's....?

Good to see your truck is humming along....350, right?

In the past I was under the impression that once you got to v8's american cars were tanks, but well...

I don't know what the ratio of GMC to Chevrolet dealers is, but there are quite a few more Chevrolet dealers.

I also have no idea why GM sells the vehicles under different nameplates.

Trucks in general & luxury cars tend to last the longest of all types of vehicles, as with anything, maintenance or the lack thereof has a lot to do with how long vehicles last

no one buys them

If noone was buying them, they'd be out of business in a second, it's obvious. And since they're doing pretty well there's lots of people buying them. If you think those are bad cars, heck, you don't know what you're talking about IMO. People buy much much worse cars b/c they have to (for the price), there is a market for those cars.

GMC trys to get more Pro sales, like Phone, cable, etc.. companies. GMC also makes a lot of their money off of larger private trucks.

But the good thing about GMC/Chevy is there are usually 2 games in town if you want a GM truck. The Chevy dealer would not give my dad a deal on his truck so he went to the GMC dealer and he got what he wanted. It can go either way as they are 99% the same for most of the series.

Interesting...I myself rented a GMC truck a few months agao for a move and it was excellent..for a 25 footer....

I am really interested in these, but I was in the dark as to why only the Envoy is so popular...

I thought the Cast Iron 350 was a Ford engine?...in fact I did a project once on one and I am most sure of it.

Such as the ones in the Mustang and the Ford F-150 of the past...

EDIT: My bad.....it was the 302 that Ford made....

The 351 was a Ford Motor Company product. IIRC, the Windsor plant made the best ones.

Cool commercial, huh. :) Too bad the Long Format Commercial, while 30 freaking minutes, is still only a commercial! How'd you like the part about the "autoride" on the Yukon versus the Ford Expedition's suspension? :)

And they're made by Nissan.
