Naturally a regular modem should to then correct? Basically the same technology. The caveat, probably have to slow the modem down to about 9600, 14.4Kbps at best (as that's the best a fax machine these days handle) correct?

I'm trying to troubleshoot an ISP issue for my brother, but being that he's here and I don't have a landline, this is going to be quite bothersome...

Yea I was wondering how if you were to dialup, what your dialup speeds would be. 53k? I'd imagine i'd be fast because of the zero noise on a VOIP connection.

according to vonage, fax over a modem in your PC won't work. i had vonage and could never send faxes from my PC over a vonage line whereas the fax machine i had could.

Doesn't VOIP use a broadband connection? Why would you want to use dialup?

Edit: Oh, you want to log in to his ISP.
