I'm not that versed in Dune but doesn't spice mutate you into those things(Guild Navigators??) that have to swim in tanks of spice to survive? Or were those things never human to begin with?

You know, food is the same way. If you don't eat it, you die.

Consider spice as a new substance your body requires to survive. I'd totally do it if it made me live longer and expanded my consciousness.

Food is no where close to spice. There is only one source of spice, there are millions of sources for food. It's more like water... except we all live in the Sahara and only one dude is selling bottles of water. And he is being a real dick about the prices. He's holding out on us, man!
