Drugs or illegal drugs?
I didn't know that there was that much freedom to the extent of such broadcasting?
><GG)
Why are most illegal drugs illegal?
Cuz uncle Sam and or some big pharmaceutical company can't make a lot of $$$$ from the use of them.
Do you really think the legal ones being pushed on T.V. are THAT much "better" than some of the illegal ones?
actually they could make a ton of money off of them. look how much the government makes on cigarettes.
really it basically comes down to social norms. certain drugs are seen as deviant behavior, while others aren't. when you try to make a previously deviant behavior the norm, people get really upset because it threatens "society" and makes them feel really insecure. the thing with illegal drugs is exactly the same as the issue with homosexual marriage. that's why people think it "threatens" their own marriages, not because it makes their marriage invalid (though this is the reason they often claim) but because it threatens to make society as a whole looser. to feel comfortable, people need a stable society, just like dogs need to know their place in the pack or they get anxious. so any time someone tries to change the rules, people have an irrational hissy-fit because they "don't know what the world is coming to anymore." if people would just think it out, they'd see that sometimes there can be good reasons for changing our norms. and of course, by exposing people to it a lot (and by having each new generation get older with their new set of norms), deviant behavior will eventually become the norm. so my bet is that over time we certain drugs start to be legal.
