Hopefully I'll graduate and get a job in the defense industry before then :p

I would enlist before I got drafted.

I don't know anything about said agreement, but they're also making a memorial for the dodgers from the vietnam war.

I doubt it. I've thought about enlisting, and it just doesn't fit with my beliefs.

Where's the "will not submit to draft" (and subsequently get arrested/fined) option in your poll?

The draft is a pile of complete BS, and fighting in the military is contrary to my ideological beliefs. But of course, I can't pull the politics card because that's not a legitimate reason for refusing to fight.

If a war comes to the point of needing a draft, I think that medical exclusions will be lessened.

So if he was sent to Germany? Also if there was a draft who is to say he wouldn't be sifting through Agfhganistan or Pakistan searching for the people responsible for killing more people than died in Pearl Harbor. Don't kid yourself PH was was an excuse to join the 2nd world war just as the sinking of the Lusitania was to join the first.

I probably wouldn't qualify for health reasons, but if I realistically faced being drafted, I'd rather be arrested.

I guess it depends on the war, though. I'd server if it meant defending my country, but none of the wars that we're currently involved in have much to do with national defense.

They were allies, self proclaimed allies at that. Who is kidding who? I was simply stating that the answer to your question was in his reply...before you even asked the question. I know PH was an excuse to enter the war...and it worked. It allowed the American puplic to get behind it. Im not saying the war in Iraq is right/wrong, but if you think it is linked to our "war" on terror in any major way...you are sadly mistaken. If our troops were only in Agfhganistan and Pakistan...the thought of bringing back the draft would have never surfaced.

hell no, atleast not for this president. this president bush is obligated to give any draftee the same choice he was. to spend the war state side in the national guard, and of course allowed to take advantage of very very lax rules in terms of actually showing up.

and of course theres the example of deferrments galore cheney. after all we all have "better things to do" then get blown up because of a damn shrub.
