If it came down to the draft I'd probably volunteer before they got around to me.

I would go...it's not something I would particulary enjoy, but I feel that it would be my duty as a citizen to do so.

If they started up the draft lotto, I would volunteer. I have a BS and an MS in chemical engineering, and I'm on my way to a PhD, so I hope they would put me in charge of a nuke plant on a sub or a ship. Or perhaps I could go into weapons development or production.

if i didn't have asthma i'd already be in. if during a draft they don't care about asthma anymore then i'm totaly in. funny to think that if my parents didn't chain smoke while i was young (and unborn) my life would be completely different.

I don't see them putting females in the draft, but if they do, yeah...I'd go.

No!

#1 I've been there and done that.
#2 I'm too old, so I'll stay here and keep your wives and girl friends company! ;)

(You can call me Jodie :) this time around!)

Not me, even though I'm a techie, have my BS in IT, and work in IT, I'd go for combat/grunt position. Preferably Air Assault or Airborne(I'd even apply to Ranger school if I qualified).

Yeah, I'd go. They'd probably stick me in a lab somewhere or in some kind of electronics/computer position though.

heh, you can "break" your leg and avoid the draft!!

or if you are a girl, get pregnant, or tell them how you have to breast feed your kid

Depends what the cause was

If it was to go to Iraq hell no...

If it was another world war 2 yeah...if someone attacked us on our soil I'd definitely be out there

I'm not going to get drafted to go fight for some cause I'm not about just because it's my duty as a citizen...screw that

I just watched the Ferrari 430 and 360 videos before I read this thread, and I read the title (twice) as "if drift happens".

i highly doubt there will be a draft. but hypothetically speaking, id enlist before one would take place.

Depends who we're fighting, if we're still at war with those sand monkey camel jockeys then hell no i'll go to ireland but say we invade china or something then i think i'd go. I'm out of practice but I'm still probably a good shot from 500 yds. Mmmmm sniper school:D

I can't. According to an Army recruiter the medication I have to take disqualifies me from service. :(

Most of the responses in this thread are pretty honest and thoughtful. A few are a bit strange, though. I pity the fools with degrees who think they are going to get a cushy job in a lab somewhere when the whole reason for the draft is cannonfodder. I laugh at the jackass who thinks he can pick and choose the war he will fight in because, if he was honest, he would never go.

Get over it, hopefully there will never again be the necesity for a draft. If there is you will all have three choices:

1. go

2. leave the country

3. go to prison

nuff said. ;)

BTW, I would go if I could.
