if we don't get our balls in place, and start cleaning up our act, we won't take over either house in 2006!

Any fresh ideas along with a way to communicate them.

Indeed. But I think you have that in the wrong order, ideas don't do much good without an effetive way to let people know what they are. And if American voters have shown us anything, it's that being forceful and effective in communicating ideas, even if it's not clear what those ideas are, or that YOU even know what they are, is going to take you a pretty long way.

I have a new motto for the Dems along this line: "Podium pounding first, ideas later"

Yep - thats what the Republicans did. Like I've said many a time - it's become clear that there is a need to fight fire with fire.

boot people like dean as the DNC chairman, and take the extremist out of the spotlight. when you have someone extreme running the show, it makes you look less credible. every time i see howard dean do something stupid or say something blatantly unprofessional it takes a little credibility away. the same can be said about bush... i guess its going to be a competition of who can screw up less.

have some actual plans instead of just shooting down the repubs ideas. i mean sometimes i think the conservatives come up with some fairly bad ideas but what can you do when there are no other ideas on the table. having the next president be a moderate democrat would probably be best to reunite the country... if thats even possible now.

The only thing I've heard Dean say that is controversial is this:

"Republicans are a pretty monolithic party. They all behave the same. They all look the same. It's pretty much a white Christian party."

"The Republicans are not very friendly to different kinds of people," Dean said Monday, responding to a question about diversity during a forum with minority leaders and journalists. "We're more welcoming to different folks, because that's the type of people we are. But that's not enough. We do have to deliver on things: jobs and housing and business opportunities."

Please tell me what part of that is not true.

I agree Rainsford, to borrow Micheal Moore's comments; he said most americans have social liberal positions...most are pro-choice, most are pro environmental control, most are pro labour. The ideas are already benifiting Democrats, they just need passionate leadership with conviction.

Liberals tend to be pu$$ies...sorry to say this, but the same thing around the world. Even if you listen to Blair interview and speak, he puts people to sleep, just like Kerry. Not that the left are not smart and don't have good ideas, they NEED to get passionate and stubborn. Being a pushover is like cheering on the kid that gets bullied at school. People would rather back up a bully than stand up against him with a smart but weaker leader.

So give me examples of his supposed 'dumb statements'. The one above is what got the most media attention and I KNOW you know that. The only other big media circus surrounding Dean was his screaming at the Democratic Convention.

What you just said paints a very sad portrait of the American electorate.

It's a very simplistic view of a complex system...but do you disagree with it??

Its very true.

but can't muck with the majority man. while the dems are catering to every single radical idea the republican's focus on what is most important to the american people.

kinda a united we stand mentality.

republicans "united we stand"
dems "minority rules"

Hence why the dems are so in trouble.

-edit- this country was founded on majority rule, no minority rule. That's where they are slipping.

No and I've always thought that way about the American electorate. But hearing it outside of my mind is... very.... depressing to say the least. Thats why I just poured myself a cup of Jack Daniels.

Cheers

Most americans may have those positions, but most voting Americans do not, which is unfortunate.

agreed.

I think we finally have some people. Barack Obama is coming up fast, and Harry Reid is doing a fantastic job in the Senate.

I personally think that the dems need to frame their issues better.

Cast things like Health Care for everyone in moral and religious terms.

another liberal elite snubbing his nose at america, unable to see what is really going on in this country and understand basic human nature.

There are the alpha males and there are the whiners complaining about how it isn't fair. Dems are the whiners.

But, in this case, those "alpha males" have their nads in a vice and asshats like James Dobson are at the controls.

You'd better cast more gov't 'freebies' in moral and religious terms, because economically, it makes no sense at all. We're going broke as it is with the entitlements we've got now.
