?

edit: also, why would someone pay rust rocket 12+ for half a season when you could get the boomer and an excelent bp arm for even money(or less)
in the al east...wells can put up a nice 4.5-5.0era just like rust rocket

No, Wells isn't going to the HOF no matter how well he does this season.

Clemens is just a better pitcher than Wells, that's why they would pay more. Although, moving back to the AL his numbers will decline, but they will still be quite a bit better than Wells.

in the al east?
he's going to get shellacked.
iirc his era was 4+ last time he pitched here.

You are a fool.
Clemens is one of the best pictures in the history of the game and wells is a injury prone 2 or 3 starter at best.

Roger Clemens will pack the house every time he pitches because people want to see one of the all time best when he is still dominate.

The fact that you even thing Wells can pitch like Clemens shows me you know nothing about baseball.

It's not easy to find a competitive pitcher who actually performs well in the AL East. His numbers will go up in the AL East but it's all relative anyway.

No. And not according to baseball-reference's numbers either.

Black Ink: Pitching - 24 (74) (Average HOFer ? 40)
Gray Ink: Pitching - 123 (143) (Average HOFer ? 185)
HOF Standards: Pitching - 40.0 (70) (Average HOFer ? 50)
HOF Monitor: Pitching - 88.0 (126) (Likely HOFer > 100)
Overall Rank in parentheses.

I don't think much talking needs to be done besides looking at the stats:

WELLS:
WHIP - ERA - YEAR
1.37 - 4.42 - 2006
1.31 - 4.45 - 2005
1.14 - 3.37 - 2004

CLEMENS:
0.53 - 2.30 - 2006
1.01 - 1.87 - 2005
1.21 - 2.92 - 2004

Wells has been a #2 or #3 guy, and isn't even in the same ballpark as Clemens. His WHIP has increased every year, despite pitching in the NL in 2004, AL in 2005 and then (briefly) in the NL again for 2006. His injury-prone back and legs have already been mentioned. Clemens has just been off the charts recently, although his WHIP in 2006 probably would have been higher had he pitched an entire season. Still, Clemens proved in 2005 and 2006 that he is still capable of absolutely dominating the NL, I see no reason why he won't have sucess (albiet not as remarkable as with Houston) if he chooses to go to the Yankees.

Oh, and Wells in for the HOF? Are you kidding?

To even mention Wells as a possible HOF just made me throw up.

Don't even compare Wells with Clemens. That's like comparing Benny Long with Bruce Lee. You make me sick.

Wells has made the All Star team 3 times compared. If you aren't one of the best 5 pitchers in your league for most of your career, there is no reason to be in the Hall of Fame. He's only been as high as 3rd in the Cy Young voting twice.

Clemens has been in 11 all star games, including 4 times since the last time Wells went.

True, his body is actually rather amazing. He's taken no care of it whatsoever and still has been able to have a long career.

David Wells is not a hall of famer.

230 wins - 2100 K's - 4.00+ ERA

Not even close.
