If "class warfare" turned literal/extreme...

Who would ultimately win?

  • The poor

  • The middle class

  • The rich

  • North Korea (wat?)

...which side would you join up with? And who would win?

I'm guessing Manhattan would be sealed off like in I Am Legend, but it would be to keep the poor out. Los Angeles would be fractured with the rich people heading for the hills.
You would have the most urban environments turning into battlefields. Rural areas would probably be kept by the poor and lower middle class, but the suburbs would be up for grabs.

Assuming the armed forces didn't get involved for whatever reason, how do you think it would play out in the U.S.? Who would have the biggest militia groups?
I think I would either hide in the suburbs or flee to another country.

*note: not a serious topic, I don't think this is very plausible, but it is fun to think about

I'd flee to another country. Communism on paper looks beloved patriot dory, not so much in reality.

The poor always win these things in the end.

The rich can't survive forever without the poor doing all of those "jobs".

OK now that I screwed up the poll: I would side with like minded people, whatever their status. I live in a richy neighborhood but am not friends with any neighbors. If it came down to me or them, it would be me. If it came down to me and them vs the next block over, us it would be.

History always repeats itself

The people will win over the 1%ers

do you feel like its getting close to this? I'm not sure if I'm getting older or crazier, but I find myself really leaning towards a revolution. If you go back and look at the things that the Colonists rebelled against, we are at or above that level right now.

The French monarchs didn't have the technology to allow 1 loyalist to take down a few thousand dissenters either.

but that would get the rest of the world against them without a question. And I have a feeling that China and Russia would have a race to see who's nukes could take out DC if that ever did happen.

Rigid thinking much?

The US is already communistic -- the community has just settled on capitalism with a governmental system of socialism as negative feedback. The current system of feedback only delays extreme stratification of wealth, though.
The community can decide to reset the state of the wealth distribution while keeping the system.

Absolutely.

The desperation out there is getting more grave by the day.

As mush as the news tries to contain it they can't.

and then the politicians try to spin it that people are mad at each other or another "class".

I'm sick of politicians. I'm sick of being treated like a revenue generating unit. The system we have isn't what was designed or intended. Not party stuff. Republicans are doing it just as much as Democrats.

I'll join any side that supports Jeffersonian principles. I don't have an issue with the rich per se, but I have a huge problem with corporations running the government, and the government in general taking too much power; much of it unconstitutionally.

The problem is that we don't have a new system for people to rally behind yet. It has been a long time since someone thought up a new government type, once they do the world will burn once again.

neither did they back then. That was all thought up afterwards.

The real problem is the government and the media have done such a good job of splitting us up that no two separate groups have any chance of joining forces.

You are a kook. "Poor" in the US means only having an iPad 1.

It has yet to be tried. No, dictatorships or oligarchies are not communists. It also never will be tried outside of maybe 15 people

Yep, the social/economic classes may be able to join up and fight together if they're pressed to do so. However, once the fight is over and balance is kind of restored, it would just go back to the same bickering bullshit and we'd probably start the whole thing over again.

The politicians (in both major parties) stir up and foment class warfare - because it distracts from the fact that they're all busy getting rich while the rest of us are burdened with more laws, stripped of civil liberties, and impoverished by the State.
