We often eat slices of ham with breakfast. It's actually HAM, not bacon. On a menu, there will be an option for "Sausages, Bacon or Ham"...different things.

And Montreal seasoning? I would guess that they use the same name there.

Candian Bacon = Peameal Bacon or Back Bacon
Ham = Ham

I've never heard anyone here refer to Canadian Bacon as just "ham"

Also, if I were in Montreal, I'd call them Montreal Steak Seasoning, it's a very distinct seasoning.

i am from Mtl, and we don't really say "Montreal Steak"seasoning ... in fact, i don't really recall any restaurant with this particular label in their menu (maybe in more touristic restaurants, tho)

of course, we can buy here "Montreal Steak" labelled seasoning and it has the very distinct taste

Yup. Ham is Ham, Bacon is Bacon, and Canadian bacon is 'peameal' or 'back' bacon.

Tell us!!!

For the confused canadians:

Hormel Canadian Bacon This is what my friends in London Ontario call ham

Normal Bacon

Montreal Steak Seasoning

Ok, Canadian Bacon is not ham, it is back bacon. Ham is ham, but we also eat it as a breakfast item. As for Montreal steak seasoning, it is called Montreal Steak Spice here, not seasoning, and it is some of the best spices i have eaten, I love that sh|t!!!

As well, I like my steak bloody as hell and my poutine thick and dark.

I always wondered....If you order an English Muffin in England, wouldn't you just order a muffin? Or French dressing in France is just dressing? I think the best thing to remember is that we're the ones being marketed to. The name of the product is merely a function of some marketing committee or ad agency. The successful ones named these products years ago and other companies have regionalized us to these norms.

It seems its more like a marketing gimick, but REAL canadian bacon is peameal/back bacon.. and oooh man is it ever delicious..

Canadian Bacon == Pemeal Bacon
When we say "Bacon" we mean the strips, like you americans eat.
Ham != Bacon
Ham != Pemeal Bacon
Ham == Fscking Ham

I'm sorry, but that's not Canadian Bacon. Usually when you see CB it comes in "slabs." I've never seen Canadian Bacon that looks like that.
