Takes a retard to not realize that higher resolution equals more real estate on a same sized screen. I dont think "alot" of people fall into that category... there are other reasons for not buying a 19x14 screen. One being, they're not exactly widespread (certain brands do not offer a single screen with that resolution), another one would be that there is indeed no benefit (the contrary is the case depending on preference) when watching a movie.

What many people do not realize, however, is that more inches doesnt equal more real estate at the same resolution. Best example: 24" vs 26" vs 27" all at 1920x1200 - the picture just gets bigger (and so does the screen on your desk) but doesnt give you more workspace.

1920x1200. Best all-around resolution right now, and 24'' LCDs are pretty affordable too.

- are there ANY "oddball" 19x14 LCDs

This is a hypothetical poll, as in, actually products available are not the topic. The question was, if you have three LCDs all being identical in every way outside of resolution, which would you choose?

then my answer is also hypothetical

pick 25x16

Except that 25x16 isnt even remotely close to the same price. You can literally get 4 19x12 monitors for the same cost as a 25x16. At this point in time those monitors are really for the rich and the extreme. Untill they get below 500$ 90% of people will never be able to get one. Even on the chance they can afford it many dont have the room for it. Unless it replaced your TV (and then you still have the problem of hiding your computer somewhere and interfacing with it).

One of the most retarded things is that even at the price they still seem to have significant quality issues as well...major turn off.

You forget this is *hypothetical* -IF 19x14 is there, then 25x16 is an awesome deal - in comparison
A 25x16 LCD costs LESS than a 21" CRT for 19x14 :p

- i rest my case - this thread is ridiculous

1920x1200

After using this resolution for the last eight months or so I can tell you - I'll never willingly go back to a 4:3 screen. Widescreen is where it's at for gaming, HD video, etc.

If the same price why not take the 1900 x 1440. More screen for the same cash. Can easily play 1900 x 1220 if you like.

Just not sure why that much more screen would be the same price....
