If Britney Spears dies within a couple of years, will she be remembered as famously as Marilyn Monroe?

Besides what torpid said, Marilyn Monroe came from a time when the media was still in the business of showing the glamour and covering up most of the bad stuff. There wasn't this thirst for blood, gossip, public falls from grace, and candid shots of somebody's zit-covered face or other body part.

The family is right to be afraid, somebody needs to get her out of that cesspool out there with the sharks circling around, before she ends up dead as they (figuratively) take photos of her corpse. At least get her an Owen-Wilson-style sobriety buddy, heh.

You're right Britney's family is right to worry. I'm starting to think that that emo "chick" on youtube has a point.

And no, she's not going out like Marilyn. As was mentioned, if it happens, it'll be more like Anna Nicole.

Britney has not shot, unless she enlists in the Army and personally takes out Osama Bin Laden in a wild gun fight.

Exaclty, hopefully her body of work (if any) will be forgotten. She won't be remembered at all 5 years after her death. No more memorials and income generated from her albums well after she is gone. Just a footnote in history.

The skank doesn't deserve to be in the news.....and neither does his exwife Britney. Both should be banned from hollywood and the tabloids.

society is far to distracted to idolize one single person as in the past with Marilyn Monroe. Now if she's died in 2001, shortly after posing for playboy, then and only then maybe

why/wny not?

My opinion:
look at Elvis and his drug addicted, drunken, cant get it up, so fat last few years of his life.
so negative publicity didnt affect him.

then again look at Jerry Lee Lewis (Great Balls of Fire). he went down in flames for marrying his 14yr old cousin. so neg publicity did him in.
You realize that Jerry Lee Lewis is still alive and kicking, right?

But to answer your question, probably no. There would be some media frenzy for a year or two after she dies, since if she does it'll probably be drugs, but after they figure out they can't make money off her name anymore, we'll stop hearing about her.

Let me put it this way...

If Britney expires while passing a really heavy and stinky fart, the fart will probably be more long-lasting than her memory.

*shudder*
