SS protection is optional for ex-Presidents. They'd be a liability for a President with warrants or in exile because they answer to the current President. It's a situation where free isn't free.

I've been expecting him to duck out to Riyadh or Dubai for a long time. A wave of impending legal doom tends to make crooks take off, always has. I very much doubt he isn't thinking about it seriously. Just imagine what a real Dept of Justice is going to find on this traitor though, on top of what is already waiting for him the minute he's not in office any longer. I'd prefer him to stay and attempt to defend his criminal enterprise sans protection from the traitorous AG Barr, though I understand that for him being a coward 'guilty as sin,' I'm probably expecting too much.
